PEARL PROCESSING

            First, edges of shell which include pearl are cleaned by breaking. Besides, front and rear faces are brightened. In this way, pearl is cocked for processing. However, only pearl is not used in pearl processing. Turtle shells, horn and bone are used for increase the color options and make different patterns. Pearl processing is divided into carving and coating. In carving method, motif that will be processed is drawn on wood. Circumference of the motif, which is cut by steel tipped knives, is opened as channel shaped. A thin wire, which is made of pewter or silver, is beaten with hammer by tilting in this channel. The wire, which is placed in wood, makes motif more obvious.

           Second, the interior of the motif is carved. Part of pearl, which is cut the extent of motif, is pasted with glue and paste that is prepared from wood dust into the hole when the desired depth is achieved on wood. Pearl is allowed to dry for about two hours.

           Finally, pearl is polished by rubbing with emery; furthermore, it is become available. In another method which is called pearl coating, pearl pieces which is cut required is pasted on a flat floor. Such as walnut, mahogany and rose trees are preferred in pearl processing. Because tree that is used for pearl processing must be durable and be easy processability. Olive oil is usually used for darken the colors of the tree. Before processing wood is wiped with olive oil and is waited in the sun.
